Promising a staggering $27 billion investment for a comprehensive seven-year development program in the Navoi region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev captured the attention of voters in Navoi with his pre-election speech on June 21. A colossal $3.8 billion has been earmarked for the implementation of 19 projects within the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Complex (NMMC), including a whopping $550 million allocated to 11 projects in "Navoiuran" that will expand uranium reserves from 67,000 to an impressive 100,000 tons.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the overall growth potential by 2030, envisioning a remarkable 3.5-fold surge in copper production, yielding 500,000 tons. Similarly, gold production is expected to spike by 1.5 times, reaching 155 tons, while silver aims to triple its output to 500 tons. Uranium extraction is also set to triple, reaching an impressive 10,000 tons.
The president proudly announced Uzbekistan's foray into the production of lithium and graphite, marking a significant milestone for the nation. Further fortifying this ambitious vision, the construction of 46 enterprises, with a total investment worth $10 billion, is planned in key sectors such as copper clusters in Akhangaran, ferrous metals in Bekabad, and agricultural machinery in Chirchik.
In a steadfast commitment to geological exploration, a staggering budget of 10 trillion Uzbekistani soms has been allocated for extensive exploration across a sprawling 60,000 square kilometers. Additionally, Uzbekistan aims to attract up to $2 billion in direct investments from esteemed countries like Canada, France, Austria, Japan, China, Turkey, and the UAE.
As Mirziyoyev expressed, local entrepreneurs will also be granted enhanced access to strategic mineral deposits, exemplifying Uzbekistan's dedication to fostering a thriving mining sector. To kickstart this, a substantial 500 permits will be issued this year alone for the extraction of gold, silver, tungsten, coal, and ore.
